Jon DeMars
Varsity Head Coach
Coach Demars began as Irondale Varsity Head Coach in 1997-98. Previous to the Knights, he was Head Coach at Columbia Heights HS for five years. He was selected as Section Coach of the Year in 2001 while guiding Irondale to conference and section championships. Coach Demars is a Columbia Heights grad and was honored in their Hall of Fame in 2005. While a high school athlete he was a two-time all-conference basketball player & named conference MVP + Alll-State his senior year. He received his BA at Hamline University where he played basketball and baseball. He earned his M Ed from the U of M. Coach Demars teaches physical & health education at Irondale High School.

Joel Andrychowicz
Varsity Assistant Coach
Coach Andrychowicz has been with the Irondale as a Varsity Assistant since 2006-07. Previous coaching stops include 33 years ay Henry Sibley and 1 season with Columbia Heights. Coach 'A' is a De La Salle grad where he excelled at basketball, baseball and football. He attained his BS and MS degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. He taught at Sibley for 34 years and was elected in to the Henry Sibley Hall of Fame
Jim DeMars
Jr. Varsity Coach
Coach Jim DeMars has been the Irondale Boys Basketball JV coach since 1998-99. He was Head Basektball Coach for 2 seasons at Leroy-Ostrander HS and 2 seasons at Belgrade HS. Jim spent 25 years as a youth basketball, baseball and football coach in Columbia Heights. He was also inducted into the Columbia Heights Hall of Fame in 2006. Coach Jim received his BA from Augsburg College.
Chet Springborn
B-Squad Coach
Coach Springborn has been coaching bsketball at Irondale HS since the 2011-12 season. He is a graduate of Mahtomedi HS where he was a two-year All-Conference basketball player; and also played football and track. Coach Springborn earned his BA from St. Cloud State University. He has coached basketball for two years in Mahtomedi's middle school program, two years at St. Cloud Apollo HS and four years at St. Bernard's HS. He also coaches IDHS freshman football and girls track & field at Mounds View HS.
David Johnson
Freshman Coach
Coach Johnson began as Freshman coach in 2014-15. He is a Minneapolis Henry and Augsburg College graduate. He has taught at St. Rapheal's Catholic School for 39 years. Coach Johnson also coached high school basketball for 39 years with positions at Totino-Grace, Benilde St. Margaret's, Columbia Heights, Robbinsdale Cooper and Wayzata. He is passionate about developing young men, as well as basketball players.
Matt Scardigli
Freshman Coach
Coach Scardigli is entering his first season as the Boys 9B coach. He is a graduate of Andover High School where he played basketball, baseball, and football. He received his BA at the University of St. Thomas where he also played baseball. Coach Scardigli spent one year coaching boys basketball at Andover and three years coaching girls basketball at Irondale. He has been teaching at Irondale for six years and he also coaches baseball.
